The following information is this weeks strengths tipo from CAPP Efficacy - People strong in Efficacy are very confident in their own abilities, having a sure belief that they can achieve their goals. When was the last time you had the self-belief to achieve a goal that seemed unrealistic? People strong in Efficacy have the confidence in their own capability to achieve their goals. We tend not to notice individuals with Efficacy - they always seem to get the job done with their can-do approach. You know instinctively that you can rely on them to get the result you need. Look at the people around you, whether in real life or on television, and see who you can spot who has Efficacy - do some people have an unerring sense of self-belief? Do others seem to question themselves more? What can you learn from them, to implement for yourself in your own life?
If you have Efficacy as a strength, ask yourself how you can put it to best use. Where does your confidence in your ability to do things come from? When has your belief in your ability to do things been most helpful to you? Think about the occasions where your involvement in a project has benefited significantly from your self-belief and confidence. Did your involvement enable others to build confidence in their own abilities?
Positive Psychology News Daily, NY (Jen Hausmann) - April 3, 2007, 1:00 am On the nights I am lucky enough to put my son to bed, I have learned to treasure a ritual that we established over a year ago, during my first semester as a student in Penn’s MAPP (Master of Applied Positive Psychology) program. Always looking for the “A” in MAPP, I was almost single mindedly focused on “how is this going to matter in the real world?” types of questions. I wouldn’t say I was a “doubting Thomas”, although, looking back, I honestly might have been. Back then, especially for me, the best way to determine how positive psychology “works” was to test out some of the theories in practice. |
